Maharashtra Govt Transfers Land to PMC for Mula Mutha Riverfront Project

Pune, one of India’s most prosperous cities, got a huge boost from the Maharashtra Government in developing the city further by giving land for the new Mula-Mutha Riverfront Development Project.

This is yet another urban development project implemented by Pune Municipal Corporation. Besides improving the environmental condition of Pune, the project will develop riverbanks into better recreational facilities and create better walkways along the banks of the river. Along with the development of the riverfront, Pune Municipal Corporation has also given its final clearance to projects regarding waste management as well as preservation of heritage water supply systems.

It has been informed that the acquisition of the lands will help PMC carry out further activities of the riverfront development project much more easily and speedily. This development project can contribute greatly towards the preservation and beautification of the river along with improving other facilities. It is expected by the municipal authorities that this region will become a much more beautiful destination for the people as well as tourists after development.

This three land plots for the new Mula-Mutha Riverfront Development Project to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) decision have been approved by the state government. A total of 52,851 sq.mtrs. of land has been transferred to PMC. It comprises of 11,015 sq.mtrs of land stretching from Sangamwadi Bridge to Bund Garden Bridge, 34,128 sq.mtrs. of land adjacent to the Mundhwa Botanical Garden, and another 7,700 sq.mtrs of land located in Mundhwa which previously belonged to the Women and Child Welfare Department.

The cleaner environment and better infrastructure would likely raise the demands for properties in the proximity of the riverside, thus boosting the property values and initiating development projects. The experts predict that several districts of Pune would become much more attractive due to the project implementation.
