Maharashtra Property Registrations Rise 12.4% in April-August, Revenue Jumps Nearly 16%

Maharashtra’s property market showed activity during the first five months of the 2026-27 financial year. According to the state Registration Department property registrations went up by 12.4% compared to the period last year. From April to August 2026 a total of 21,23,821 documents were registered.

In the period in 2025 the number of registrations was 18,90,167. That is 17.9% more than the 18,02,035 registrations seen in April-August 2024.

Revenue collections also saw a jump rising to ₹26,637.73 crore from ₹22,996.04 crore in the corresponding period last year. This increase of about ₹3,641.69 crore happened even though there was no revision in the reckoner rates this year.

Officials said the rise in revenue was mainly due to higher transaction volumes and more high-value property deals. Maharashtra has set a revenue target of ₹68,500 crore for 2026-27. By August the state had already achieved around 38.9% of that target.

The property registration activity remained strong in September well. In the first 11 days of the month 1.66 lakh documents were registered, generating ₹2,002.65 crore in revenue.

Industry representatives said steady demand, in Mumbai, Pune and other major urban centers is helping the market grow. Improved infrastructure and better connectivity are also playing a role. With Ganeshotsav and other festivals coming up officials expect the property registration market to stay active.
